The following statistics represent applications by area postcode during 2003.
The statistics are based on the postcode which refers to the address for service of the applicant and respondent. This is not necessarily the 'residential' address of the client, but rather the address for which the Court sends appropriate documentation and correspondence, in many instances a client may choose to use their legal representatives address as their service address.
An application may have multiple applicants and/or respondents, however to prevent duplicate counting of applications for the reports only a single applicant and respondent is chosen for each application. Where an application does have multiple applicants or respondents, only one is selected based on those first entered, however it is expected that where there are multiple applicant/respondent clients they would normally have service addresses in the same postcode.
Postcode 0000 refers to unknown postcode.
These figures only include those matters at the Family Court of Australia - it does not include the Federal Magistrates Court or the Family Court of Western Australia matters.
