Judges are the most senior members of the Family Court and are appointed by the Governor-General, usually from the ranks of the legal profession. Appointments to the Family Court have also included academics with special expertise in family law.
Judges conduct trials in a courtroom where they make decisions (orders) about parenting and/or financial matters.
