The Family Court of Australia's privacy statement

In accordance with the Guidelines for Federal and ACT Government World Wide Web sites issued by the Australian Privacy Commissioner, the Family Court of Australia provides the following privacy statement.

The Family Court of Australia makes a record of your visit and logs the following information for statistical purposes such as:


Access to information collected
No attempt will be made to identify users or their browsing activities except in the unlikely event of an investigation, where a law enforcement agency may exercise a warrant to inspect the Internet service provider's logs or where the information is required to be provided by law.

However, the use of the website by Family Court staff using Court's facilities is subject to the Court's Internet and email policy. Where there is any inconsistency between that policy and this privacy statement in that circumstance, the policy prevails.

Email management
The Family Court of Australia will only record your email address if you send us a message. It will only be used for the purpose for which you have provided it and will not be added to a mailing list. We will not use your email address for any other purpose, and will not disclose it to any other person or body without your consent.

Please note that when you contact the Court via email the content of your email as it is transferred across the Internet may not be secure. If you have a concern about the security of your message you are advised to contact the Court directly by telephone, facsimile or post.

Email notification service (ENS)
Subscribers to the Email Notification Service (ENS) are required to provide some personal details. This personal information is used only for the purpose of monitoring the use of the ENS and for future planning. The information will not be used for any other purpose. These personal details will not be passed on to any other person or body to other individuals or organisations except, in the unlikely event of an investigation, where a law enforcement agency may exercise a warrant to inspect the email notification records. If a subscriber does not provide the information, it may not be possible to provide the ENS to the subscriber.
