The contact information on this page is for Family Law matters only. For General Federal Law see General Federal Law enquiries.

About the National Enquiry Centre (NEC)

The NEC is the entry point for all Family Law enquiries in the Federal Circuit Court of Australia and Family Court of Australia.

The NEC can help you to understand family law procedures and provide you with the right forms. See the How do I pages located at the top right hand corner of every page for step by step information on proceeding through the court.

Commonwealth Courts Portal Registrations

The NEC can also assist you to register on the Commonwealth Courts Portal so you can access your family law file electronically.

If you have an existing family law file email us at registerme@comcourts.gov.au with your file number, full name, date of birth and the name of the other party so we can register you and provide you with instant access to your electronic file.

If you do not have an existing family law file go to the Commonwealth Courts Portal and register. For more information see: How do I register for the Commonwealth Courts Portal?

Once you are registered you will then be able to electronically file a range of documents, track the progress of your case, access your case information and download orders.

Please note: The court no longer posts hard copies of sealed orders, including divorce orders to parties. Court orders (except appeals and consent orders) are signed and sealed electronically and available to download from the Commonwealth Courts Portal.  The order you download is the only official and original record the court issues and is evidence that an order has been made. For more information see: How do I access orders

Family Court of Western Australia

Western Australia has its own Family Court. If you are in Western Australia or your case is proceeding in the Family Court of Western Australia you should call 08 9224 8222.

They can be contacted on 1800 050 321. NEC staff cannot provide legal advice. See the legal assistance page for more options to obtain legal advice.
