Court orders are going digital

As part of the Family Court and Federal Circuit Court’s commitment to the Government’s digital continuity policy, the courts are changing the way court orders are accessed.

Faster access to your orders online, anytime!

The move to digital court orders commenced in July 2017. From 1 January 2018 the courts will no longer post hard copies of sealed orders, including divorce orders by mail.

Court orders (except appeals and consent orders) will be signed and sealed electronically and available to download from the Commonwealth Courts Portal www.comcourts.gov.au.

These changes provide for faster and more secure delivery of court orders to all parties.

Accessing your orders is quick and easy!

Simply register for the Commonwealth Courts Portal (www.comcourts.gov.au), link to your court file, set your email notifications and get instant access, 24/7 to your court files and view or download orders as soon as they are available.

If you’re already registered just find the file in your ‘Available files’ tab, select ‘Additional options for this file’, select ‘List of orders’ then select ‘View orders’ (when they are available) in the right hand column against the appropriate court date. The orders will open for viewing as a PDF which you can then save and/or print.

Step-by-step guides

The courts have a range of online resources to assist parties with court processes and using the Portal. For a step-by-step guide to registering for the Portal and accessing orders, see How do I access orders?’.
